The helpful, positive, caring atmosphere between our employees is what makes working at Concord a family. Each department works together to bring excellent care to our residents.
Spotlighting Darlene Queen, a cook in dietary.
Darlene Queen has worked at Concord for almost nine years. She was born in Ironton Ohio then moved to Wheelersburg at a young age and has lived here since. She comes from a large family. Three brothers and three sisters. Since age fifteen she has been married to the lover of her life. While being spoiled by Dennis, Darlene had the pleasure of being a stay at home mom that took pride in raising their three daughters.
Due to an unfortunate accident, Dennis could no longer work, which lead to Darlene entering the workforce. Using the skill set instilled in her by her mother. Darlene knew that all the large Sunday dinners she helped prepare for their family and anyone else that needed a meal would assist in finding employment. Her mother was a wonderful cook and shared the talent to feed many people and stretch a meal.
She also attributes her work ethic and dedication to her father. He worked three jobs and was always on time. But found time for family by taking them to church. He would even help out by washing their shoelaces or lace ankle socks.
Darlene is thankful to be working at Concord. She enjoys the opportunity to chat with the residents. Darlene has been successful in dietary as a cook and has completed her managers serve safe class. She takes pride in her work and appreciates her co-workers.
